Dr Shyamala Pradeepan completed her Respiratory and Sleep training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and later completed a Sleep fellowship at Sleep Centre at Brigham and Women’s Hospital which is attached to Harvard University in the United States.
Shyamala’s respiratory interests include the use of biological therapy in severe asthma, bronchiectasis, multifactorial causes of breathlessness, lung cancer diagnosis.
She has a special interest in ventilation needs in motor neurone disease (MND) patients.
Shyamala has experience in all sleep related breathing problems (sleep apnoea) and other non-respiratory sleep disorders such as insomnia. She is particularly interested in multimodal therapies for obstructive sleep apnoea.
Her research interests are in ventilation needs of MND patients and CPAP adherence and types of CPAP devices for the treatment of sleep apnoea.
Shyamala personally triages all referrals both in the public and in the private sector, therefore she is able to see patients with urgent needs quickly.
